Taurus G3C|Taurus 9 millimeter
Taurus introduced its newest 9mm pistol, the Taurus G3c , earlier this year, bringing an affordable 12+1 capacity subcompact pistol to the carry market. As it turns out, it also works on the range.
The G3c (c = compact) was announced in June as a scaled-down version of the Taurus G3 striker-fired pistol. It features a 3.2-inch barrel and a 6.3-inch overall length. This is approximately one inch shorter than the company’s already popular third generation of polymer-framed handguns, which follows the G2 and PT111 Millennium Pro.
The Taurus G3c builds on the established foundation that has made the compact G-series one of the most popular personal defense/EDC handguns of all time, while pushing the envelope of function, reliability, and durability.
Additionally, the G3c is priced to maintain the Taurus G-series handguns’ industry-leading cost-to-performance ratio. All of the original striker-fired full-features. size’s Now available in a more compact EDC-friendly frame. Taurus® G3c’s all-new design provides the optimal balance of power and performance for any self-defense situation.
The slide is where the G3c 9 millimeter Taurus upgrades begin. Serrations on the rear of the slide have been supplemented by serrations on the front to provide a larger tactile surface area for a more positive grip. This facilitates slide manipulation and press checks regardless of the operator’s operating style or hand size. A visual chamber indicator replaces the mechanical chamber indicator found on the G2c, simplifying the slide profile and reducing parts.
The G3c Taurus 9 millimeter slide is treated with a proven Tenifer finish to increase wear resistance and corrosion protection against environmental conditions. Tenifer provides a more robust surface integrity, reducing scuffing and increasing corrosion resistance.
The G3c comes standard with all-steel front and rear sights (as opposed to the polymer sights included with the G2c), which are designed to withstand the rigors of daily carry. Serrated rear sight reduces glare and speeds up acquisition of the sight picture, while drift adjustability allows the shooter to fine-tune the point-of-impact.
All of these features are retained in the new Taurus g3c model, but with a performance boost. Scallops are now included as an add-on to the G3c magazine. These are intended to aid in tactical magazine changes in the event that dust or grit prevent the magazine from freely dropping when depressing the mag release.
In terms of magazines, the G3c comes equipped with three 12-round magazines as standard. Additionally, 15 and 17 round magazines will be available for customers who desire a greater capacity.
